Job Description

We are seeking new editors to join the Sit Write Here team!

This work will include meeting 1:1 with my clients. Monthly work includes, for 3-6 clients:

• Reading submissions (of up to 13,000 words)
• Writing an editorial letter with your feedback
• Meeting with the client for a 60-minute 1:1 session

Qualifications

• Must have either formal experience editing books or an MFA degree in creative writing. We work exclusively with fiction writers, in all genres.
• Must be skilled in providing both written and verbal feedback on writing submissions.
• Must be comfortable meeting with clients on video.
• Our work at Sit Write Here is rooted in antiracism. Must have at least a working knowledge / familiarity of antiracist practices to be a good fit for my company.

Availability

Must have weekday daytime availability to schedule 1:1 meetings with clients. You will have control over when these will be scheduled.

It's also worth noting that while you don't have to be located in the United States, you must be willing to work US business hours.

Compensation

There are two components to the compensation for this work.

First is per deliverable. The deliverable is the full spectrum of one client's work in one given month: i.e., reading the submission, doing line edits, writing a short editorial letter, together count as one deliverable. Editors are paid $0.03/word for the deliverables.

Second is for Zoom meetings. Editors are paid $50 per 60-minute 1-1 client meeting.

Payment is sent on the 5th of the month for work done the prvious month.
