If you follow along, you know I’m pretty methodical about how I submit my short stories to journals. (If you haven’t been following along, check out this post to get up to speed.) Well, the submission window opens today for a whole bunch of my favorite journals.
Here’s the list:
AGNI
One Story
Five Points
Gettysburg Review
Gulf Stream
Iowa Review
New England Review
Southern Review
Tin House
Witness
Antioch Review
A Public Space
Epoch
I’m sure I missed a couple, but that’s the list of publications that will be getting my latest short story today.
If you have a story you’ve been thinking about submitting, I say go for it. Don’t worry about rejection – expect it. You will be rejected, many times. If you’re not being rejected, you’re not putting yourself out there enough. That’s just a fact.
If you need some tips, check out my recent post on how to handle rejection. Then take a deep breath and get to it.

This is a great list. Do you have links to all the magazines?
Also, it looks like Tin House is only open to submissions from authors with agent representation.

Hi, Adam,
I didn’t realize that about Tin House. I mailed in a submission not too long ago. I wonder if that’s a recent change. As for the links, I don’t include them because then I have to maintain them and I feel like they change too much to make it worth while. A quick google search on any of them will pull up their page.
Cheers,
April
